The sets come in three types. These are Analogue, Digital ready and Digital. The analogue sets are the traditional train controller and the locos cannot be easily converted to digital. The digital ready sets are supplied with the traditional controller but the supplied locos' can be converted very easily to digital by installing the Hornby Digital chip. The Digital sets are supplied with a digital 'Select' controller and the locos' are already fitted with the Hornby Digital chip. The Hornby train sets are really good value for both the first set or as an expansion to a bigger set.
